Bio:
Two years ago, we got Daja from her first owner who couldn’t take care of her anymore. I had a coworker who had an Eskie (who then had puppies) and thought they were adorable. When a friend emailed me about a dog that needed a home and I saw that she was an Eskimo, I knew I had to meet her. While she initially greeted us with vocal barks, she soon became a loyal and happy white fluffball in our household. She keeps our other pet, Spike the chinchilla, company while he hops around the house. She has been a great late night working/studying buddy for my sister and I. She’s been a great addition to the family and it’s hard to remember life before she was with us.

Arrival Story: Frosty came from Pet Menagerie, a mall pet store that is now out-of-business. However, she was born at a kennel in Missouri (which I believe was a small-scale puppy mill), according to her paperwork. Anyway, my mother saw her one day and fell in love. She was an adorable white ball of fur and everyone just adored her. I am one of five in my house, and Frosty was always showered with attention. Although she loved everyone, her very best friend was my dad. Frosty was everything one could want in a family dog – intelligent, loyal, gentle, tolerant, protective, reliable, comical, fun and very happy. She didn’t fetch and didn’t like car rides, but she loved to run and play with her humans. I always remember getting off the school bus ! and seeing Frosty waiting for me by the back door :#. Frosty had a litter of puppies one summer after the neighbor’s Golden Retriever got loose, and although it was an irresponsible accident, we enjoyed the experience and have no regrets. #She was spayed after all the puppies were sold.) Frosty was to me what dog-people call “forever dogs” or “soul dogs”, because they are like our soulmates in so many ways. Frosty and I grew up together and she taught me a lot about dogs and how they behave, and I accredit her for shaping me into the dog lover that is I. I now know better than to buy from a pet store or to buy on a whim, but I will never regret my mom’s decision to bring home that little white furball one November’s day. <3

Nuka is a happy happy happy little goofy girl who is the perfect compliment to Atka. This “Little Sister” (what her name means in Eskimo) brings sunshine to our lives every day, and is more than content to allow Atka to steal the spotlight. She has brought balance to and enriched all our lives for sure :)

Tweet With Me:
Bio:
It took a total of 3 years to get Atka, from breed research, to breeder interviews, to waiting for the pup with the right personality to be a match for us to be born. We chose Eskies for their stunning looks, robust health, surprisingly (somewhat) low maintenance in grooming, high intelligence and desire to please. Atka’s intelligence, large repertoire of tricks, charm and sweet demeanor have led him down many blessed paths, with the world opening up for us as a result. Although he has been featured on national TV through Animal Planet, has been in various books, magazines, and newspapers, and was discovered by the producers of “America’s Got Talent,” his favorite activity still remains performing as a Therapy Dog for the nursing homes every month, and the wounded and ill soldiers at military bases when he can. Atka is Eskimo for “Guardian Spirit”, and his spirit has indeed shown us what the important things in life truly are.

Pet Peeve: the doorbell
Tweet With Me:
Bio:
Bear came into my life about a month after my dog Lucky passed away from old age and cancer. He was the same breed as Lucky but unlike Lucky who I rescued when he was a senior, Bear was three months old and frightened of humans. He had four owners in his first 13 weeks of life. Although tiny in size, he barked and air-snapped to insist he would bite me if I got close. Somehow that first day, I scooped him into my lap and three hours later we were buds. He now loves all those he knows, but is still weary of strangers.
Bear brightened my life when it was bleak. Losing a dog is one of the toughest experiences to endure. Bear is hyper and wants to play constantly. He is cute, rides in the car with me all over town, and has expressions I’ve never seen in a dog. He’s the most observant dog I’ve ever seen and sometimes I swear he is watching the road or watching tv right along with me!
