Arrival Story: I moved from Iowa to Colorado in September 2010.
While living in Iowa I was active with my local humane society. I am very passionate about re-homing animals. Adopt don't shop is my motto! I love all breeds of dogs - whether a purebred or a mixed breed.
My residence in Iowa didn't allow for me to have pets. This is why I became so active with my local shelter.
When I moved to Colorado I knew I wanted to live some place that would allow me to have a dog. My landlord would only allow me to have a small breed.
I insisted on rescuing an animal. I am a fan of Petfinder.com and started my search there. I referred our potential adopters to Petfinder and ended up finding my baby on there too. Her happy tail story is even featured in their newsletter this month: http://www.petfinder.com/newsletters/2011-05/index.html
I was raised around a variety of breeds and worked with a variety of breeds. A Jack Russell Terrier was the last breed I thought I would ever own!
However, my good friends have a JRT - Astro that I've known since he was a puppy. I ended up falling in love with him and the crazy personalities the Jacks have.
I saw my baby "Babe" on Petfinder and less than a week later she was in her forever home. She's been with me a little over 3 months and is sound asleep next to me after a long day at the office as I type this.
The rescue I got her from was started by hospice workers. Their patients had either already passed on or are about to pass on. This rescue helps re-home the pets left behind.
A series of sad circumstances brought us together. But I LOVE her more than anything!!!
