I don't even know where to begin. Another long boring two weeks... what can I say. Nothing spectacular on the Project DOG front, nothing spectacular on the Nuena or Scutte front either. Just the same ol, and I've been really blah lately. Oh actually Project DOG reached 1,200 fans on Facebook which was pretty exciting, and we're just about to hit 8,000 followers on Twitter. So we're really getting somewhere.
I'm trying to pump myself up and be more positive in life thanks to my GF reading all of these positivity books lately. I'm naturally a positive person but I guess I just feel a little stuck right now and I need to figure out what the next move will be because I can't take the blah-ness much longer and I want to be super excited. I mean, I AM super excited about Project DOG, but the dog search progress has slowed down a bit and I'm afraid I'm going to have to actively go after the missing breeds soon. I was just hoping that the search would continue to grow virally (which it has) to the degree that my missing dogs would be found... but it's not hahaa.
Here's a pic of Hemi I dug up to show you. He is a rescued Belgian Malinois dog who lives in San Francisco. I never met a Belgian Malinois before, so it was really exciting for me. Have you ever met one? They're gorgeous dogs and very smart. Many police dogs are Belgian Malinois. They look like German Shepherds but their gait is a little different if you look at them side by side.
It's really entertaining for me (in a DORK way) to think about how much random info about dogs and dog breeds I know now that I've been working on Project DOG. Let me tell you something that I was extremely proud of that happened recently. Harley had a playdate with our friends dogs out by Chrissy Field (Golden Gate bridge) and that is an off-leash dog area with a beach and a huge field. We were walking towards the beach when I saw this dog walking in front of us - and I said to my friend "I think that's an Entlebucher", and the people in front of us turned around and said "YES IT IS!!" We talked then about this dog and they said that they think I am one of about 3 people in the world who could recognize their dog's breed because it is so rare. Entlebucher's are kind of small dogs - like 35-40lbs, which look like identical mini versions of Swiss Mountain Dogs. They're recognized by the AKC as an FSS class breed - which means Foundation Stock Service. These FSS dog breeds are the "rare" breeds, and they cannot be registered with the AKC. They're accepted as an AKC FSS breed to help give credibility to the breed standard, if that makes any sense. So, it was exciting to me to be able to recognize this dog in person, and be right!
In the web-world, I'm excited because I'm revamping my websites, ALL OF THEM. I started with my personal site, kirastackhouse.com, and I just moved on to Project DOG, next Nuena and then Scutte. I LOVE being able to program my own sites, because then I can be assured that my creative vision will be delivered the way I want, and I won't have to waste my time explaining it to someone. I guess something that most people don't know about me is that I actually do EVERYTHING there is to do with the businesses I run. I dont like to skimp and I don't like to outsource things that I know I can do myself. That's probably my biggest flaw, but I am such a perfectionist that it's the only way for me to truly trust what is going on, if you know what I mean. It's fun for me though too, I"ve been programming my own websites since I was 14. I taught myself html first in my teenage years, then moved on to CSS, now I'm finally learning PHP/MySQL. I have to say that some of the only people whose knowledge I truly envy are computer programmers. Yeah, I'm a nerd.
Well, I have to go. But I hope you are doing well and I will write again soon, probably again next week.
